A Korean medicine maker has been detained by the U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on charges related to the importation of counterfeit Viagra in South Korea.
The CBP said Tuesday that they had received an order for the seizure of counterfeit pills from a seller of the fake drug.
The pills were seized at the border in South Korea, according to the CBP. They included one for Viagra, one for a generic drug and one for a prescription drug, according to the CBP.
Counterfeit Viagra tablets, manufactured by Korean pharmaceutical company Jigall, were sold in the South Korean market and were made by a seller in the country. At least 10 pills had been seized from the seller and one had been returned to the border.
The CBP said they had seized the pills for the South Korean market.
The seller of the fake drug, however, said he had not seen the pills in South Korea but at a nearby pharmacy in the country, he told Korea's Japan daily news outlet.
A spokesman for the Seoul National Day Party, Jung Youn-kuk, said the South Korean government had stopped making and selling medicine.
"We stopped making medicines, we stopped selling medicines, we stopped selling medicine to people who are ashamed to go into South Korea," Jung Youn-kuk told Japan.
The official didn't immediately return a message seeking to confirm the arrest.
"The CBP's office said the products were imported into the country by South Korean citizens and were not manufactured in South Korea. We are still processing the products. There is a black box warning on the packaging," the official said.
The U. Food and Drug Administration said it had stopped a shipment of counterfeit Viagra medicine and the pills were confiscated.
Korean authorities said that there was no evidence of human or veterinary error or harmful drug or alcohol effects on the body.

The so-called ‘weekend pill’ will soon be made by generic manufacturers, as Eli Lilly’s patent on the drug is expected to expire in the UK 14 November 2017, and will be made available soon after from.
The patent for Cialis expired in March 2015 in Brazil, and is now available in that country as generic tadalafil from Sandoz.
Containing the active ingredienttadalafil, Cialis was, to compete with Pfizer’s erectile dysfunction medicine Viagra. It was originally developed to relieve frequent urination or weak flow of urine in patients with enlarged prostates, but it also helps increase blood flow to the penis.
Cialis, Viagra and several other ED medicines are phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which work by inhibiting the enzyme that regulates blood flow to the penis. The principal difference with Cialis is its duration.Unlike Viagra and Levitra, which last for about 4 and 12 hours respectively, Cialis lasts for about 36 hours.Patients will not have a continuous erection, but can achieve one when sexually stimulated throughout that time frame. Under ideal circumstances, a man can buy Cialis to take on a Friday and still experience the effects on Sunday morning.
The extended duration has the potential to allow couples to be more spontaneous than with other ED drugs, which must be taken an hour or so before sexual activity. Cialis can also be taken in lower daily doses of 2.5–5mg, to allow for continuous treatment of ED.
When Pfizer, other manufacturers began making generic sildenafil, resulting in a dramatic reduction in price, and the same can reasonably be expected for Cialis.
